The DC Venture Summit will feature presentations by promising DC-area startups in the fields of New Media, Clean Power, Healthcare, and Technology that will pitch their ventures to a diverse group of entrepreneurs, advisers, and potential investors. (Open Bar and light fare included)

This event, created by Free World Pulse and Skyline Innovations, sponsored by Affinity Lab, will be the first of what we hope to be many events that promote the DC startup-scene and create great useful events for entrepreneurs, industry experts, and investors.

Washington Post Cover story with Free World Pulse: Farah is streaking through at the speed of light towards Anton (just out of frame) and our newest intern Michael is about to be interviewed....

So we made the cover of the Washington Post (kind of). Washington Post profiled Affinity Lab and it’s members as part of a story on Digital Nomads (found here) a photographer came in to get all of our pictures. The cover of the Post is two of our Lab-mates, and on the subpage our desk is front and center with Farah streaking through, Michael at our desk, and Anton just out of frame. Yey!!

That said, they actually forgot to identify Farah in the picture, and they didn’t call the company out by name … but I guess you can’t have it all. Since moving to our offices here, this place is exploding – the week we came they won $100,000 in a business plan contest and now front page of the Post. Something tells me it’s us! Let’s keep this streak going.

Farah is excited about our New Office!

Big news today — We have officially moved into our NEW OFFICES at Affinity Lab in the heart of Adams Morgan!

Affinity Lab is the most successful Startup Incubator in the DC area (and in fact just last week they competed and won (!) a wopping $100,000 business plan competition from the DC government! – beat that).

It is a great place with great people and an amazing location in the middle of everything: there are restaurants, bars, and a great culture (feels a bit like Haight Street in San Francisco). And I hate to be that guy that says this, but Affinity has a “really good vibe” ;-D.

It is a bit of an investment on our part, but as we are now over 6 months into development, and with launches coming up over the next few months, it seems like a good time to take the leap. On top of that we feel that we are going to be super-productive here.

Many thanks to Philippe Chetrit, Charles Planck and Riaz Virani who have welcomed us in and graciously answered the two (single-spaced) pages worth of questions I asked them about everything from printer costs to financing .
